When Doug was a child he loved going camping with his dad. Since he had lots of time off he decided to start the tradition with Dallin. They went camping for 2 nights at the end of September. They went to Eisenhower State Park at Lake Texoma, which is on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. They had a lot of fun. I enjoyed some time for myself and got some projects done and I also enjoyed a girls' night out with my friend.

On the way to camp they saw two deer and they saw lots of animals throughout the trip. Dallin loved seeing the animals in the forest. Doug and Dallin were the only people camping in their campground, so they got to pick whichever spot they wanted. Dallin was such a big helper setting up camp. He used his toy hammer to set up the tent, and put the sleeping bags in the tent. For the camping trip I bought him toy binoculars and he enjoyed playing with them in the car and when they got to camp. They had tin foil dinners that night and Dallin enjoyed his tin foil chicken nuggets.

Dallin was kind enough to wake Doug up so he could enjoy watching the sun rise. Dallin also "helped" Daddy make a Dutch oven breakfast both mornings. He missed his Mommy but Daddy kept him busy enough that they were able to stay camping. He had lots of fun going on hikes, looking for fish in the lake, playing at the playground, playing with his trucks, playing horseshoes, playing with rocks, and throwing rocks in the lake. That night after dinner the had s'mores. Dallin preferred to eat everything separately, but he did enjoy roasting marshmallows and eating them.

The last day Dallin woke up early and was ready to see his Mom so they played a little, had breakfast, and got ready to come home. Dallin enjoyed helping Daddy take down camp. They also drove 10 minutes to Oklahoma so they could add a state to their list. They both had a great time and are looking forward to keeping up with the tradition. Every time Dallin sees the state park magnet on the fridge he says "go camping." He loved it and loved seeing all kinds of animals, such as deer, turtles, little fish, big fish, birds, and a coyote.

The Tradition Begins: Father and Son Camping!

What a fun trip! I'm so impressed that Doug braved camping with a two year old! Love it!
