We had a wonderful Christmas Eve this year. We began our evening by having our friends the Parkers over for Christmas Eve dinner. Then we were planning to go to a Christmas party, but the weather kept us home. I never would have thought that we wouldn't be able to go somewhere because of snow on our first Christmas in Dallas. It was the first time there was measurable snow on Christmas Eve in over a century. We tried to drive to the party but the roads were terrible and after seeing a lot of accidents on the freeway we turned around and went home.

When we got home Doug and Dallin went out and played in the snow. Dallin had a blast and came inside with red cheeks and cold hands. He loved throwing snowballs at Doug and making snow angels. The wind made it very cold and miserable to be outside, so Melissa was "kind enough" to go inside early and make hot chocolate for everyone.

We decided since Dallin's pants were all wet that we would have our Christmas Eve Family Home Evening in our new pajamas this year. Everyone got to open pajamas and get comfortable to listen to stories and sing songs. Dallin had so much fun opening his pajamas he decided he should help Daddy open his.

All of us in our fun new pajamas!

After taking pictures of all of us in our pajamas we sang songs and read I Believe in Santa Clause, 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, and the nativity story from the scriptures. We used some gospel art pictures to help keep Dallin entertained during the scripture story. We closed with our favorite Christmas song, Silent Night, and a prayer. Dallin enjoyed reading stories about Santa and Baby Jesus and singing carols. Dallin then got treats ready for Santa and his reindeer. Dallin had a very hard time going to sleep on Christmas Eve, as did his mom. We were both very excited for Christmas. Dallin did stay in his room all night but I don't think he got much sleep.
