Monday and Tuesday were spent at Colonial Williamsburg. We had a wonderful time learning more about what life was like back then. We enjoyed going in some of the houses to see how they lived and what they did. Actually, just Doug and I enjoyed walking through the homes to learn more about them and see them, but Dallin didn't enjoy going in the homes as much. Dallin wanted to run around and play so it was hard to take him through the homes. He enjoyed the times he got to run around though, so we tried to break it up as much as we could.
We enjoyed walking around and seeing everything. We also enjoyed going to a play where actors showed us what the entertainment was like in Colonial times. Everyone in the family seemed to enjoy that, even Dallin. In the afternoon we went to a section of the town where they have some little colonial plays going it was fun to see people all dressed up. Dallin fell asleep while we were walking which was nice, he had a much needed short nap. Dallin woke up in time to see Martha Washington come to the Capital and receive a medal in George's honor. It was really fun to experience history that way.

Everyone's favorite part on the first day was probably when we went to the Governor's Palace. Dallin didn't enjoy the tour through the home too much, but he did get to enjoy a dance with mama in the Ballroom. He had so much fun running though the gardens and they had a little maze that he loved. He had so much fun running around and he especially loved the times when he could go through little holes that Mommy and Daddy couldn't fit through to chase him. We had a lot of fun exploring the gardens. We saw a blackberry bush and lots of beautiful flowers. In the kitchen they had food from Colonial times, it was interesting to see what they ate back then.
We had a fun but busy first day at Williamsburg and we went to a place for dinner that served Thomas Jefferson's favorite meal (macaroni and cheese). The restaurant wasn't quite what we expected and the food was just okay, so we decided the next day we need to go to a place in Colonial Williamsburg so we could experience what dining was like.

Tuesday morning we went to Williamsburg in time to see trials take place at the Courthouse. Dallin was a little restless and was making a lot of noise so I took him outside so he could run around. Doug enjoyed watching the trials inside though. He was really interested in seeing how the legal process worked back then. Dallin enjoyed running around outside while I tried to keep up with him. He loved all the horses at Williamsburg so he would often stop running to show me a "neigh, neigh". They had some horses by a nearby tree so I made sure that Dallin was close to me, because my little boy has no fear and he really wanted to pet the horse. I didn't want him running up to the horse by himself. Later in the day we went on a guided tour of the stables, and Dallin was able to get a close up view of the horses then (while they were secured behind the fence).

Taking Dallin into the houses didn't work so well the second day. We just walked around Williamsburg and enjoyed the little town. I toured the Capitol myself and it was interesting but it wasn't quite what I pictured it would be. It was interesting to learn a little more about what it was like to have the King in England making decisions for you. We headed to a Tavern for lunch which had excellent colonial food and environment. Dallin and I left a little early because he was a little restless. At this point of the trip, Doug and I were both ready for more helping hands to arrive to help chase after our little boy.

Here's Uncle George and Aunt Martha walking down the streets at Williamsburg, after George gave a speech to the townspeople.
