For Fall Break this year we took a much needed family vacation. We went to Williamsburg, Virginia on Saturday, October 11. We got to the hotel a little late so we just went to dinner and let Dallin play in the hotel. Dallin loves to play in the hotels.
The next day we went to Jamestown to see where English influence in America began. First, we enjoyed a drive on Colonial Parkway which was a beautiful drive for a Sunday afternoon. Then we enjoyed walking through the fort at Jamestown and Dallin loved putting on the armor. At first he seemed like he didn't like the armor but then he cried when we tried to take it off. We next headed through the gardens and saw someone dressed up as a Native American making a canoe. I thought it was interesting to see how they used a fire to hollow out the log for the canoe. Next we headed to the ships, which was the highlight for all of us. We loved walking on the ships and I loved the beautiful view.
Dallin loved it when we let him run around the ships and we had to watch him very closely. He loved when he got to play captain at the front of the ship. As we walked through the Indian village Dallin liked wearing the coonskin hat and touching the fur.
While we were on the biggest ship, Dallin's favorite part was playing in the small sleeping place they had. He kept laying on the bed closing his eyes and telling us "night, night". It was pretty funny, we had a hard time getting him out and moving on to the rest of the ship. It was neat to be able to see how people lived 400 years ago.
