My Mom celebrated her birthday the day the flew to Norfolk. So while my Dad and Doug were picking up dinner, I had them stop at the store to pick up a cake. They were gone a long time and everyone kept saying stuff like "what's taking them so long?". Everyone was really hungry, but I'm sure they were alright waiting once they found out they got cake and ice cream. They bought a cake and frosting for me to write on the cake. I'm not the best cake decorator especially when it comes to the writing, but even though the writing wasn't the best, the cake was good and it was fun to surprise my mom with a small party on vacation. [Editor's Note: The writing looked great, especially considering that it was done in the dark while the cake was on the seat of a car in a driveway and Melissa had about 5 seconds to do it.]
We all sang "Happy Birthday" and the girls even let my mom remember how the family back in Utah sings at birthday parties. Dallin was sitting on Grandma's lap and enjoyed some frosting as soon as the candles were blown out. After eating cake we all got to enjoy playing the new game we got my Mom. We hope you had a wonderful birthday, Grandma.
