September 22 and 23, Doug didn't have school so we took a short vacation to the beach. We headed down to Wilmington, NC. When we got to Wilmington and had a little picnic before we went to the Battleship, North Carolina. The Battleship was really neat, it was like a little town on a ship. They had everything that could need on the ship, we even got to see a dark room on the ship. I was really excited about this, not only because I loved all the times I got to create images in a darkroom, but because my Grandpa was a Navy Photographer during WWII. It was exciting to see something similar to what he may have used. It was also nice to talk to Dallin about his Great-Grandpa.
When we were done at the Battleship we headed to the hotel and enjoyed the ocean view from our balcony. Then we went for a little walk on the beach. Dallin is a little confused and calls any body of water, milk. So we spent a lot of time talking to him about the ocean and all the water. The waves made him a little nervous and he just mostly wanted to stay really close to mom or dad and he preferred to be held or away from the water. He loved playing with his beach ball. He would run after it and it even ran into the water sometimes so he could get his ball. Some people brought a kite to the beach and Dallin loved watching it in the sky. When we were done at the beach we went to dinner at a Seafood Restaurant (you can't go to the beach without having a seafood meal). Then we enjoyed a swim at the hotel (Daddy took Dallin for a swim, while mom went to the hot tub, the water was to cold for mom).
We enjoyed waking up to a beautiful view of the ocean. Although the ocean seemed very dark and it was really windy. I love the ocean and going to the beach. We decided that we weren't going swimming so we got ready and headed to the beach to play in the sand. However, we didn't stay very long because the wind was blowing so much. So we took our picnic that was meant for the beach and went to a park in Wilmington. Dallin loved seeing all the ducks and playing with Daddy at the park.
After lunch we went to a Railroad Museum. It was a really fun museum. Dallin loved all the model trains and seeing them go around the tracks. He especially loved it when he was able to push the button to make the train go. When he was done with the model train he got to play with lots of train toys and train tables. He loved playing with all the trains. Then we got to go inside some train cars and Dallin loved the Caboose, making the bell ring, and playing with the steering wheel. It was really fun to see all the trains and his Great-Grandpas on Doug's side all worked for the Railroad so Doug enjoyed talking to Dallin about his Grandpas as well as his Uncle that still works for the Railroad.
We headed home and when we were an hour away from home, we decided to stop at the outlet mall. This was a very fun stop, I've been needed some new clothes, and Dallin needed some new shoes. Dallin enjoyed playing with the Elmo car while mom finished some shopping, he had a blast. It was fun to stop and do something that wasn't planned.
All in all we had a great trip to the beach, even though we didn't get to spend a lot of time at the beach. We loved spending time together as a family.
Sorry these pictures took me so long to get done, it seemed like I just had time to a little bit each day. I hope you enjoy.
